- Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd) officially ended his role as Sole Administrator of Rivers State after inaugurating Dr. Irringi Brown as Head of Service and delivering a farewell broadcast.
- His exit marks the close of a chapter shaped by Rivers’ political crisis, with Governor Siminalayi Fubara now tasked with sustaining peace in the state.
The outgoing Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd), on his final day in office, carried out his last official duty at the Government House, Port Harcourt.
He inaugurated the acting Head of Service, Dr. Irringi Brown, as substantive Head, before addressing Rivers people in a statewide broadcast.
Dressed in a blue kaftan and his trademark glasses, Ibas walked with calm confidence through the glass doors of his office, flanked by senior security aides carrying files. With his hands in his pockets, he paused briefly to take in his surroundings, smiled, and proceeded to his vehicle.
The former Sole Administrator stepped into his SUV with a touch of gallantry, signaling his motorcade to move. The convoy’s glowing headlights slowly faded into the midnight darkness, marking the end of his tenure.
Ibas came, saw, and conquered, fulfilling the mandate handed to him by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during Rivers State’s political crisis. The task now falls to Governor Siminalayi Fubara to provide leadership and sustain the fragile peace in the state.
