Nigeria’s national U-20 team, the Flying Eagles, have started preparing for the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Santiago, Chile, ahead of their opening game of the championship, which will be hosted by the South American country.

The Nigerians arrived in Chile on Tuesday and had their first training session in Santiago on Wednesday evening at Cancha Liga Training Pitch.

The session, which lasted for two hours, was supervised by head coach Aliyu Zubair. This comes after a recovery session in the morning at the team’s base, Le Meridien Hotel.

The Flying Eagles were scheduled to continue training yesterday in their build-up ahead of a friendly game against the Chile U-20 team tomorrow.

Nigeria is in Group F of the championship alongside Norway, Saudi Arabia and Colombia.

The Flying Eagles reached the quarterfinals of the last edition of the championship hosted by Argentina before losing to the Republic of Korea.

The championship will hold from September 27 to October 20, with the seven-time African champions facing Norway in their opening fixture on September 29.
