Nigerian footballers, Damimola and Oluwajomiloju Ajanaku, have signed their first professional contracts with Bosnian club NK Jedinstvo Bihać.
The brothers, who honed their skills at Dowen College Academies in Lekki, Lagos State, will now move to Bosnia and Herzegovina to represent one of the country’s established football clubs.
The transition from academy players in Nigeria to professional footballers in Europe represents a milestone for both siblings.
Speaking on the development, the Ajanaku brothers expressed gratitude for the opportunity. “This is a dream come true for both of us,” Damimola said. “We have worked hard for this moment and are eager to show our abilities at the professional level.”
Oluwajomiloju added, “Playing in Europe has always been our goal. We hope our journey will inspire other young footballers in Nigeria to pursue their ambitions, no matter how far they may seem.”
The contracts were facilitated by Dr. Drew Uyi, a FIFA-licensed agent of Nigerian descent. Dr. Uyi described the signing as “a promising step for two talented young Nigerians” and highlighted the importance of structured pathways from academies to professional clubs abroad. “It is encouraging to see Nigerian talents transition successfully to European football,” he remarked.
The Ajanaku brothers will now begin training with NK Jedinstvo Bihać, where they will integrate into the squad and adjust to the demands of professional football. Observers note that the move provides them with a platform to develop their skills further and compete at a higher level, potentially attracting attention from larger European clubs in the future.
For the Ajanaku siblings, the journey is both personal and symbolic, demonstrating the growing opportunities for Nigerian footballers to carve professional careers abroad. “Our focus is on learning, improving, and contributing to the team,” Damimola said. “We understand this is just the beginning.”
The brothers’ move also highlights the role of dedicated agents and structured development academies in nurturing and transitioning young Nigerian talents into professional football. Dr. Uyi emphasised, “With proper guidance, exposure, and dedication, more young Nigerians can make the leap to international football.”
The Ajanaku brothers are expected to join their new teammates in Bihać in the coming days and will soon participate in official training sessions ahead of the upcoming season.
