Nigerian businesswoman cum social media influencer, May Edochie, has opened up about her first contact with her estranged husband and Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie.
Naija News reports that May, during a recent lifestyle podcast, revealed that their paths crossed long before fame and marriage.
The mother of three said they did not meet at a party or any glamorous settings, but at a General Certificate Examination (GCE) centre during her early university days.
May also stated that she just moved from Lagos to pursue a degree at Enugu State University when she met Yul, who was then studying at the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT).
Reflecting on that period, May described herself as an academically driven young woman.
She said, “Way back in school when I went to the East for my university, I’m a bookworm. It’s always been about books for me. We didn’t meet at a party or any glamorous settings, we met at a GCE centre.”
Meanwhile, Nollywood actress, Anita Joseph, recently reacted after May Edochie’s former lawyer, Emeka Ugwuonye, accused her of staging fake awards and ambassadorial titles for May.
The controversy began when a video of Emeka surfaced online, in which he alleged that Anita had arranged such recognitions for May.
His allegations came shortly after May filed a lawsuit against him, accusing him of defamation and cyberbullying, with reports suggesting the case is worth about N1.5 billion.
Reacting through Instagram on Tuesday, Anita dismissed the allegations and defended May, insisting that every award she received was earned.
She asked why Emeka continued to attack May after their professional relationship ended and expressed disapproval over the way he spoke against his former client.
