A Nigerian lady has moved many online after sharing her emotional academic journey, which saw her withdraw from the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) at 400 level and start all over again at Lead City University.
Her inspiring story, posted on X (formerly Twitter), has generated widespread reactions, with many netizens congratulating her for finally earning her degree.
Known on X as @ayomie, she revealed that she had become completely exhausted and overwhelmed with her studies at FUTA. Despite her struggles, she couldn’t bring herself to leave until she stumbled upon a life-changing tweet in 2017.
The viral tweet, originally posted by politician and entrepreneur Oloye Akin Alabi, read:
“You are 30 so don’t want to go for a 5-year course because when you finish you will be 35. Whether you go back or not, you will be 35 in 5 years.”
According to her, those words gave her the strength to make a bold decision quitting FUTA during her 400-level second semester to begin afresh at Lead City University.
Years later, that tough choice paid off. @ayomie successfully graduated from Lead City University and received her NYSC call-up letter, completing her academic pursuit.
Expressing her happiness, she wrote:
“I was exhausted, tired of everything. Then one Thursday, I saw this tweet on WhatsApp. Something in me shifted. That same day, I made the hardest choice. I left FUTA in 400L, second semester, to start all over again at Lead City. Today, I’m a graduate. Serving my country with joy.”
Her story quickly went viral, with many Nigerians flooding her comment section to applaud her bravery, perseverance, and determination to start over and finish strong.
