A lady reportedly a student at the Kwara State College of Nursing in Oke Ode, has gone viral after posting a harrowing video recounting a deadly bandit attack near her church.
Her firsthand account, shared on TikTok under the username @quinnabiola, quickly captured the attention of viewers, drawing widespread reactions.
According to the student, she first heard rumors that bandits had entered the Oke Ode community on September 27.
“I got information that bandits were in the community, and I immediately shared this with our school platform,” she said. Despite there being no immediate signs of danger, she felt it was important to alert her classmates.
The following morning, she assumed the situation had calmed down and prepared to attend church. “It was Sunday, and I thought everything would be fine. I got dressed and headed to church, expecting a normal service. But sadly, things turned out very differently,” she recalled.
Less than 20 minutes after she arrived, gunfire erupted outside the church. “By 7:45 a.m., I was seated in church. Less than 20 minutes later, gunshots started. They were firing right in front of our church. We closed the doors, but the generators at the front were still running,” she explained.
Her church is located at the entrance of the community, in a busy, developing area, which made the attack particularly alarming. “The gunshots lasted for about an hour,” she said.
When the shooting subsided, she, along with the pastor and his family, cautiously stepped outside and were met with a horrifying scene. “After about an hour, the shooting seemed to stop, so we stepped out slowly. On the main road, I saw two bodies. As I walked along the path to the church, I saw another,” she recounted.
The traumatic experience left her shaken, and she could no longer remain in the area. She and other students were reportedly evacuated to ensure their safety.
In the video, she shared clips of the aftermath and reflected on how quickly life can change. “One minute, you’re in class studying for exams. The next, you’re running for your life,” she said, highlighting the unpredictability of life in Nigeria amid rising insecurity.
Her emotional testimony and chilling footage have sparked widespread discussion online, with many expressing fear, sympathy, and concern over the persistent security challenges in the region.
