Armed criminals attacked Sundu and Biresawa villages in Tsanyawa Local Government Area, Kano State, abducting several women and girls in a late-night raid that has heightened fears among residents in the border communities.
The two villages are located along the Katsina–Kano border, a route increasingly targeted by bandits despite a recent peace agreement involving Ingawa, Kankia, and Kusada LGAs in Katsina State.
Security analyst Bakatsine shared the news on X, noting that instead of curbing attacks, recent incidents indicate that bandit activity may be shifting toward border settlements.
“Last night, armed bandits struck Sundu and Biresawa villages in Tsanyawa LGA, Kano State, abducting multiple women and girls. These communities sit along a corridor frequently exploited by criminal groups,” Bakatsine reported.
He questioned the impact of the peace pact, asking whether it has genuinely improved security or merely moved violence from one part of the northwest to another.
As of now, security agencies have not released official information regarding the raid.
