Cory Booker is in a state of wedded bliss.
The New Jersey Senator, who announced his engagement to Alexis Lewis in September, exchanged vows with the 38-year-old in two separate wedding ceremonies, writing on social media that he was “overflowing with gratitude.”
“We said ‘I do’ in two places that shaped us,” he wrote in a joint post with Lewis on Instagram Nov. 30. “First at the courthouse, then with our families. Hearts full and so grateful.”
The couple legally wed Nov. 24 in Newark, N.J., in a civil ceremony, with their parents acting as witnesses, according to the New York Times. Five days later, they held a second service at an intimate venue in Washington, D.C., followed by a family-only reception.
Booker, 56, was introduced to his now-wife, an investments director, in May 2024 by a mutual friend, per the outlet. After a successful first date in Washington, the politician convinced her to push back her flight to Newark so they could go out a second time—a decision she couldn’t be happier about.
