Contemporary rigidity has gripped the Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Get together (PDP) following allegations by former Deputy Nationwide Chairman, Chief Bode George, in opposition to the celebration’s Deputy Nationwide Secretary, Setonji Koshoedo, accusing him of manipulating the processes for the Ward and Native Authorities Congresses.
In an open letter addressed to the Nationwide Chairman and members of the PDP Nationwide Working Committee (NWC) on Friday, George expressed concern over Koshoedo’s alleged unilateral dealing with of the distribution of congress nomination varieties in Lagos.
In accordance with George, Koshoedo, who has allegedly been absent from the celebration’s actions in Lagos, bypassed native celebration leaders and independently decided the tactic of kind distribution.
He claimed the transfer disregarded efforts to construct consensus amongst stakeholders and risked creating inner acrimony, public dysfunction, and authorized disputes.
George additional alleged that nomination varieties got to people who had defected to opposition events such because the ADC, questioning Koshoedo’s motives and authority.
“The truth that he’s the Deputy Nationwide Secretary doesn’t make him the chief of the celebration in Lagos. Why had been varieties given to individuals who have defected and are brazenly working with the opposition?” George queried.
The PDP chieftain, who blamed the celebration’s poor efficiency in Lagos throughout the 2023 elections on related acts of self-serving behaviour, warned in opposition to a repeat of such incidents.
He described Koshoedo’s actions as unacceptable, unjust, and an insult to loyal celebration members, declaring him a political persona non grata within the state.
George urged the NWC to intervene urgently to make sure a good and clear distribution of varieties, including that loyal celebration leaders in Lagos had been prepared to pay for the varieties to ensure equitable entry to all contestants.
“The previous period of manipulation and deceit has ended. Members of the general public are watching the celebration, and our actions should at all times be above board. We should be simply, truthful, and equitable,” he stated.
Efforts to achieve Koshoedo for feedback had been unsuccessful as calls to his cellphone weren’t answered.
