A Royal father from Osun State, the Onigemo 1 of Owa Igbajo, Oba Ademola Makinde, stole the show at the 2025 Nigeria Maritime Golf Challenge (NMGC), which held at the Ikoyi Club 1938 Golf section in Lagos.
Oba Makinde set aside his royal regalia for his golf outfit as he outplayed the rest of the field to emerge the winner of the overall gross category with a total gross of 81. He told journalists that he was excited to be part of the tournament, just as he commended the organisers for a job well done.
Also, the Executive Director of Administration and Human Resources of Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Isichei Osamgbi, organisers of the tournament, said their aim has been achieved.
He commended the participants for their display of true sportsmanship, just as he assured a bigger and better tournament in the future.
On his part, the Executive Director of Marine and Operations of Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA), Olalekan Badmus, commended the organisers for using sports to highlight the importance of Nigeria’s maritime sector.
The one-day tournament, which was used to commemorate the 2025 World Maritime Day slated for September 25, saw the likes of David Adeniran emerge the winner of the Maritime category, while Araoluwa Popoola, Timi Roland, Reginald Okehie and B. A. Raji also won their various categories.
