Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki has described the weekend’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Kwara State’s successful local government congresses as a clear demonstration of unwavering commitment to inclusiveness, fairness, and internal democracy across the state’s 16 council areas.
A statement signed by his Press Officer (local matters), Abdulganiyu Abdulqadir, on Sunday, quoted Saraki saying that “the outcome of the congresses has once again demonstrated the PDP as a credible alternative capable of restoring good governance, not only in Kwara State but also across Nigeria.”
He noted that the exercise has further positioned the party’s maturity, unity, and sense of responsibility at the heart of Nigerians with discerning minds as the only way to go in 2027 and beyond.
Saraki commended the maturity displayed by delegates, stakeholders, aspirants, and party members during the exercise.
According to him, the peaceful nature of the process reflects the resilience of the PDP family and its readiness to offer purposeful leadership at all levels of government.
Saraki also lauded the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, and the media for their presence and professionalism, which ensured that the exercise was transparent, orderly, and credible.
The former Senate President charged the new local government executives to see their election “as a call to service and an opportunity to strengthen the party at the grassroots.”
He urged them to work collectively with other stakeholders to deepen the PDP’s reach, mobilize the people, and reinforce the values of accountability and inclusiveness.
Saraki further emphasised that the successful conduct of the congresses in Kwara State is not just a victory for the PDP family in the state but also a pointer to the growing confidence of Nigerians in the PDP as a party of hope and renewal ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“The PDP has once again shown that it is the party that provides a level playing field and prioritizes the will of the people. The maturity displayed in Kwara State congresses is a reflection of the national character of our great party. I am confident that with this renewed energy and unity, the PDP will reclaim its rightful place in providing quality leadership for Kwara State,” Saraki said.
