Amstel Malta has celebrated Nigerian international goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie, after she made history in Paris by finishing fourth in the Women’s Yashin Trophy category at the 2025 Ballon d’Or Awards.
The 24-year-old became the first African goalkeeper to rank among the top five in the world, marking a significant milestone for both Nigerian and continental football.
Nnadozie, who recently signed for Brighton & Hove Albion Women in the English Women’s Super League, has already announced herself in Europe with a Player of the Match performance on her debut, followed by a string of impressive displays.
Amstel Malta, a long-time supporter of women’s football in Nigeria, said the recognition underscored the goalkeeper’s resilience, talent and pioneering spirit. The brand, which backed the Super Falcons as they lifted a record 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title in Morocco last year, described Nnadozie’s success as an inspiration for the next generation of African footballers.
Sandra Amachree, Head of Communications – Marketing at Nigerian Breweries Plc, said Nnadozie’s achievement was a proud moment for the country and the continent. She added that Amstel Malta would continue to stand with Nigerian football, celebrating excellence and empowering athletes at every stage of their journey.
Nnadozie’s Ballon d’Or feat follows Nigeria’s growing prominence on the global football stage, coming after recent recognition for Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman in earlier editions of the awards.
For Amstel Malta, her global ranking is further proof that Nigerian football is on an upward trajectory, with women players now joining their male counterparts in gaining international acclaim.
