Delta State chapter of the Nigeria Association for Physical, Health Education, Recreation, Sports and
Dance (NAPHER-SD) has been voted as most active and proactive branch at the 53rd National
Conference of the body and International Workshop held at the Lagos State University of Education,
Ijanikin, Lagos in Lagos on Thursday.
Delta State NAPHER-SD received the award at a colourful event, which brought together physical
educators, sports administrators, coaches, researchers and stakeholders from across the country.
The recognition underscores the state’s consistent contributions to the advancement of Physical and
Health Education, Recreation, Sports, and Dance, as well as its leading role in promoting innovations andgrassroots participation.Speaking on the achievement, the Chairman of Delta State NAPHER-SD, Mr. Godspower Odedede, described it as “a testament to the hard work, resilience, and vision of the Delta State chapter.”
He dedicated the recognition to members of the association, government partners, schools, and all
stakeholders who have supported the growth of physical education and sports in the state.
The national conference, themed “Lifelong Learning through Physical and Health Education,
Recreation, Sport and Dance”, featured keynote addresses, technical sessions, and capacity-building
workshops aimed at repositioning the profession for greater relevance in national development.
According to Odedede, Delta State’s recognition as the most active and proactive branch solidifies its
reputation as a pacesetter in sports education and development in Nigeria.
