Baseball players from Kwara and Delta states were able to demonstrate their superiority as the 2025 Honour Independent National Baseball League’ ended in Ilorin on Friday.

The National League sponsored by Chief Executive Officer of Honours Intercontinental Concept Ltd.,
Anaekwe Gideon Kodir, a former baseball player who distinguished himself in the 1991 season, was
attended by baseball players from five states.

The first phase of the competition was attended by 10 states, while the second phase had five states,
Delta, Bayelsa, Kwara, Ondo, and Oyo States in attendance.

In some of the results in the league format, Delta defeated Bayelsa 19-7, just as Kwara beat Ondo 17-7
on Monday.

On Tuesday, Delta defeated Ondo 10-7, while Bayelsa beat Oyo 29-8 while on Wednesday; Ondo overcame Oyo 12-4, while Kwara defeated Delta 17-10.

On Thursday, Kwara defeated Oyo 33-11, while Bayelsa beat Ondo 12-3.

However, the table changed on Friday morning when Bayelsa defeated Kwara 11-4. The last match of the league was between Delta and Ondo State on Friday afternoon.

The sponsor, Anaekwe, who also serves as President of Honours Sports International Foundation, said he decided to sponsor the league as a way of promoting the game of baseball in the country.

Under his leadership, the Foundation has hosted the Honours Independent National Baseball League Phase 1 in April, and he is the sole sponsor of the just concluded Phase 2 of the Honours Independent National Baseball League, in Ilorin.

The First Vice President Nigeria Baseball and Softball Federation, Victor Chukwudumebi Achakpo, said he was thrilled with the outcome of the championships, which ran from September 22 to 26 at the
Adewole Baseball and Softball Park, Ilorin.

Achakpo said the Honour National Baseball League was designed to boost the visibility of baseball and
softball in Nigeria while fostering unity and sportsmanship among participating states.
