Rekindle Learning, a prominent South African digital learning company, has acquired the Cape Town-based edtech startup EpiTek, resulting in the creation of Rekindle EpiTek. This new venture aims to offer a comprehensive corporate training platform designed specifically for the African workforce.

The acquisition merges Rekindle Learning’s performance-driven learning tools with EpiTek’s white-labeled online education platforms. This combination creates an integrated system that offers microlearning, live classrooms, AI-proctored assessments, and analytics. The goal is to meet the evolving workforce training needs across the continent, particularly as organizations work towards obtaining Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) accreditation.

Rekindle EpiTek’s platform is equipped to serve both accredited and non-accredited skills development providers by offering the necessary tools to deliver, track, and measure learning outcomes. Notable features include preloaded course libraries, real-time analytics, and automated certification, all supported by a scalable and compliant infrastructure.

CEO Sally Nhlanhla highlighted that this merger revolutionizes skills development across Africa, providing organizations with a full-scale solution that spans from microlearning to formal certification. EpiTek’s CEO Matthew Scott added that the combined entity enhances Rekindle’s position as a high-impact African tech company, capable of addressing the continent’s skills development and training needs at scale.

This merger represents a major milestone in the African edtech industry, showcasing the power of homegrown solutions in addressing regional challenges. Rekindle EpiTek aims to establish a new standard for how companies scale skills development across the continent.
