Minister of Power, Chief Bayo Adelabu, has officially declared his readiness to run for Governor in Oyo State during the 2027 general elections.

Adelabu, a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), made his intention known in a video posted by media outlet, Oyo Affairs on its official X account.

“I contested in 2019 and 2023, and it’s been quite long that we embarked on this political journey of ours, so in 2027, “E mi Lokan” (meaning it’s my turn),” he said.

“I am ready to apply the experiences I have gained from the past two elections. I am up to the task, I want to demonstrate my ability to compete and emerge victorious.

“I want to show that I can withstand competition and prove to our party members that I am capable.”

Adelabu lost to Seyi Makinde of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 Oyo State gubernatorial election in Oyo state.

In 2022, he resigned from the APC and defected to the Accord party after he lost the primary election to Teslim Folarin who emerged as the APC gubernatorial candidate ahead of the 2023 governorship election in Oyo State.

Adelabu contested for the Governor of Oyo state in 2023 under the umbrella of Accord Party after the previous candidate Ayodele Oyajide stepped down.
