Human rights activist and #FreeNnamdiKanuNow convener, Omoyele Sowore, was reportedly re-arrested by police shortly after being granted bail by a Kuje Magistrate’s Court.

His lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, said, “More than 50 police officers violently attacked him [Omoyele Sowore] and took him again by force.”

Adeyanju added that the officers refused to present any valid warrant, claiming one briefly showed a letter before hiding it. “We couldn’t even read what was written on it,” he said.

He further alleged that the re-arrest happened because Sowore “insulted the Inspector-General of Police by calling him ‘useless.’” Reports indicate his clothes were torn as he was dragged away to Kuje Prison.

The incident occurred just after the court granted bail to Sowore, Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyer Aloy Ejimakor, and eleven others, accused of inciting public disturbance during the #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest in Abuja.
