Don Jazzy has shared his past struggles and moments of doubt before launching his record label, Mavin Records.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, the renowned music producer revealed that he nearly gave up on music following the collapse of Mo’Hits Records. According to him, the setback was so discouraging that he considered relocating abroad and quitting music production altogether.

However, Don Jazzy noted that the constant encouragement and support from his friends helped him regain confidence and reignite his passion for music a decision that eventually led to the birth of Mavin Records.

“When Mo’Hits ended, I thought that was it. I almost packed up to move abroad. But friends encouraged me to stay and start again, and Mavin Records was born. Since then, I’ve learned not to let anything break me,” he said.

In other news… Nigerian singer Omah Lay has reacted to online criticism following a set of bold photos he shared while on vacation abroad.

The “Soso” crooner recently posted pictures of himself relaxing in what appeared to be a luxurious resort, dressed in only white briefs while sipping a drink. The photos quickly went viral, sparking a wave of reactions across social media.

While many fans praised his confidence and physique, others took a different tone—criticizing him and even labeling him with derogatory terms.

In response, Omah Lay took to his Instagram story to address the backlash directly. He wrote:

“Ni**as that have lost their freedom to ego and rigidity are in my DMs calling [me] gay 😂.”

The singer’s message appeared to call out those who felt uncomfortable with his openness, suggesting that such reactions stem from insecurity and rigid societal expectations.

The post has since generated mixed reactions.
