Chowdeck, the YC-backed food delivery startup, has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing one million orders in a single month, highlighting its impressive growth and expansion across Nigerian cities, along with its recent venture into Ghana.
Femi Aluko, CEO of Chowdeck, shared that the company has experienced a sharp rise in its daily order volume, increasing from an average of approximately 30,000 orders to over 40,000 in recent weeks. “This surge reflects the growing demand for fast and reliable delivery services in Nigeria’s major cities, despite the operational challenges faced by the logistics sector,” Aluko remarked.
This milestone is a testament to Chowdeck’s expanding presence in Nigeria, where it now serves over a million monthly users across key cities, including Lagos, Ibadan, Abuja, and Port Harcourt. The startup’s entry into Ghana in 2025 has been equally impressive, as it reached 1,000 daily orders in just three months—three times faster than its growth in Nigeria.
Aluko acknowledged the operational pressures that have come with the rapid growth but assured that the team remains committed to continuously improving and adapting. “This milestone proves that we are on the right path in building our vision,” he said.
In addition to its growth in order volume, Chowdeck has strategically strengthened its ecosystem. In June 2025, it acquired Mira, a point-of-sale startup, which enhanced the company’s offerings with tools for payment processing, inventory management, and merchant financing. This move was followed by a $9 million Series A funding round in August 2025, led by Novastar Ventures, aimed at accelerating Chowdeck’s quick commerce strategy and further scaling its operations in both Nigeria and Ghana.
Chowdeck’s success stands out in a competitive market where other food delivery giants, such as Jumia Food and Bolt Food, have exited due to slim margins and high operational costs. This highlights Chowdeck’s ability to thrive in a challenging environment, maintaining its momentum and securing its position as a key player in the food delivery sector across West Africa.
