A lady on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) has shared a distressing audio recording of her father, who is currently being held by kidnappers.
The user, known as @funkysguide, explained that her father was abducted while returning from her convocation at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA).
In the viral audio, the kidnappers demand a ransom of 5 million Naira, while her father describes being tied up with rope since the morning of the incident.
He also revealed that other passengers traveling with him were kidnapped and beaten by the attackers.
During a call with one of the kidnappers, the woman mentioned that 700,000 Naira had been collected, but the kidnapper, reportedly from the Northern region, insisted on the full 5 million Naira payment.
In her post, @funkysguide pleaded for help from Nigerians to secure her father’s release. She wrote:
“As of last night, this was the recorded conversation between my family, my dad, and the kidnappers. 😭😭😭
Nigerians, please help me. My dad came to celebrate me on my convocation, only for him to be kidnapped on his way back. 💔“
The tweet has since gone viral, drawing widespread reactions from social media users calling for urgent intervention by security authorities.
