The Edo State Police Command has launched a manhunt for a man identified as Timothy Gilbert, who is accused of severely attacking his 40-year-old partner, Angela Ogah, in Benin City.
The incident occurred at Ihovbe Quarters in the Ikpoba Hill area. Gilbert allegedly poured a harmful substance on Ogah during a disagreement before immediately fleeing the scene.
Command spokesperson, CSP Moses Yamu, confirmed the active search for Gilbert, appealing to the public for credible information. Yamu noted that the couple had a history of repeated disputes linked to allegations of infidelity, which escalated into the confrontation before the attack.
Ogah is currently receiving treatment at a private medical facility. Her condition is reported to be critical but she remains under close supervision. Her lawyer has submitted a formal petition to the Edo State Commissioner of Police, demanding the suspect’s urgent apprehension.
Authorities warned the public against resorting to domestic violence, advising individuals facing relationship challenges to seek peaceful solutions. The police assured residents that efforts to track down Gilbert are ongoing.
