Pre-eminent African law firm Bowmans has appointed Justin Ramages as a partner in its Johannesburg office M&A Practice with effect from 1 December 2025.
Ramages joins Bowmans from MTN South Africa, where he focused on telecommunications-led M&A mandates and gained firsthand experience of the intricacies of dealmaking in this complex and dynamic sector.
Bowman’s chairman and senior partner, Ezra Davids, says, ‘Technology, including telecommunications and fintech, is a critical growth area for Bowmans and a key focus sector for us. We believe that Justin’s expertise will be useful to our clients as we continue to expand our contribution in this important area.’
Ramages is by no means new to private practice. He completed his articles at ENSafrica and was admitted as an attorney in 2018. Before joining MTN, he was a corporate attorney with a Johannesburg law firm
Ramages serves as a senior lecturer at the University of South Africa (Unisa), where he teaches administrative law and interpretation of statutes, and is a visiting senior researcher at the University of the Witwatersrand.
He has LLD and LLM degrees from Stellenbosch University and an LLB from Unisa.
Davids concludes, ‘We are pleased that such an accomplished and versatile transactional lawyer has chosen to be part of our drive to strengthen our presence in the African technology sector.’
